The production of nitric oxide (NO) and cytokines increased by adding the fermented vegetable extract (OM-X), a mixture of vegetables, fruits, seaweeds, mushrooms and other ingredients that is fermented with lactic acid bacteria in a prolonged period, to macrophage-like cells. This suggested that OM-X can stimulate the macrophages directly which in turn activates the immune system. We also examined the changes of the gene expression in the liver by dosing the mice with OM-X. According to this result, the changes of the gene expression caused by the administration of OM-X tends to function as protecting cells by inhibiting inflammation and apoptosis. 

A study was conducted to evaluate the functionality of OM-X capsule on an elderly dog. One capsule of OM-X was given every day to a beagle, and we investigated the change in liver enzymes, fecal ammonia level, and the change with gut microbiota. The result showed the decrease in the levels of liver enzyme (ALT) and the fecal ammonia and the change with gut microbiota was observed. It is expected that OM-X has beneficial effects on household pets e.g. dogs and cats.    

Forced swim test was conducted after mice was given the fermented vegetable extract (OM-X) in which vegetable, fruits, seaweed and mushrooms were fermented for a long period of time using lactic acid bacteria. The result showed that the swim time of the mice given OM-X was approx. 2 times longer when compared with that of the mice without OM-X. Also the decreases were observed in the concentration of serum lipid components (cholesterol, triglyceride and phospholipid). These results suggest that OM-X helps to reduce fatigue and enhance physical capability.
