Immunomodulating Effect of OM-X Fermented Plant Extract: A Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blind, Comparative Study

[Objective]

In modern society, an increasing number of people suffer from various physical symptoms related to immunity. We examined the immunomodulating effect of the OM-X capsules on 39 healthy Japanese subjects aged 40-59 who were prone to feeling unwell or experiencing cold symptoms.

[Methods]

Japanese men and women were divided into two groups, one taking OM-X capsules and the other taking a placebo, and each group took 3 capsules daily for 12 weeks. The evaluation methods used were (1) eight items and two summary scores of the SF-8, measuring Quality of Life (QOL), and (2) a questionnaire to evaluate the subjects' physical condition.

[Results]

By taking OM-X capsules,

(1)  Significant improvements were observed in health-related quality of life through the assessment of SF-8 and two summary scores.

(2)  Improvements were observed in nasal congestion, fatigue, and overall physical health status through a questionnaire assessing physical condition.
