Effects of in vitro Enzymatic Digestion on Food Function of Fermented Vegetables Extract
After we produced a fermented vegetable
extract (OM-X) in which vegetables, fruits, seaweeds, mushrooms and others are
fermented with lactic acid bacteria for a long time, we treated OM-X with an
artificial digestive liquid to investigate the effects of OM-X on food functions.
The findings admitted increases in brown pigmentation content of OM-X,
improvement with the DPPH radical scavenging activity and anti-complementary activity
by an artificial digestive treatment. These results suggest the potential that gastrointestinal digestion of
OM-X within the body increases low molecular brown pigmentation as well as
improves food functions.

Evaluation of therapeutic properties of a prebiotic/probiotic mixture (Dr. Ohhira’s OM-X) in the model of colitis in mice
We presented the results of a collaborative
research with University of Lille Nord de France(France). When
the intestinal mucous membrane is damaged and inflammation sets in, harmful
bacteria or substances from the intestines invade in the body and exert
negative influences to the body. This study reveals that intake of OM-X prevents
infection of harmful bacteria, prevents enteritis and contributes to recovery
of the mucous membrane.

Effect of immunoactivation of dead bacterial cells of E. faecalis TH10 lactic acid bacteria
We gave a presentation about our collaborative research with the Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture at Kinki University. While an intake of viable cells of lactic acid bacteria is recommended, some studies have revealed that there are strains which have potent effects even though they underwent a heat-killing treatment. Therefore, we conducted a study to examine an immunostimulatory activity by using our unique TH10 strain with a heat-killing treatment. The result exhibits that the immunity became active in a dose-dependent manner.
